CJP Justice Saqib Nisar announces historic verdict in written off loans case

ISLAMABAD – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC), headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, heard the case regarding written off bank loans of 54 billion rupee.

In his remarks, the Chief Justice said the recovered amount would be used for construction of dams. He said banks have already waived off loans.

The top judge added that the cases of those repaying seventy-five percent of their loans would be cleared and others would be sent to the banking court.

Banking courts would be asked to decide the cases within six weeks, he continued.

Meanwhile, CJP while taking notice of the matter of over 300 passengers stranded in China has ordered to hold the hearing of the case on Friday.

The passengers had to reach Pakistan through a private airline on July 29 but they were facing difficulties due to delay in flights after some technical issues.
