Security threat: Indian Air Force Chief security enhanced after intelligence agencies report

NEW DELHI – Indian Air Force Chief security enhanced after intelligenceagencies reported possibility of a terror attack.

Amid increasing tensions between India and Pakistan, and the possibility ofan attack by a terror outfit, the Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian AirForce (IAF), Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, and the Chief of theNaval Staff of the Indian Navy, Sunil Lanba, have been provided Z+ securitycover by the Delhi Police.

Till now, it was only the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, BipinRawat, who had the privilege of the Z+ security. Sources said that thedecision came after a recommendation made by the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA).

Keeping in mind the recent development at the border and after air strikescarried out by the Indian Air Force at a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)infrastructure in Pakistan, a meeting was held to ensure the safety of thetop brass on Wednesday.

Various terror inputs of possible attacks were also received by theintelligence agencies.

“The security arrangements in respect of Chief of Air Staff, Air ChiefMarshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral, SunilLanba, has been examined in the ministry. It has been decided to providethem Z+ category security in the central List.

Delhi Police is therefore requested to provide Z+ category security to AirChief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa and Admiral Sunil Lanba immediately,under intimation to the ministry,” said a MHA letter.
