Chief Justice of Pakistan observation on elections 2018 without census
ISLAMABAD (APP): The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday asked the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) to submit response after getting directions from the government over holding of Census in the country.
The division bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Jsutice Qazi Faez Isa heard the suo-moto notice case regarding Census.
During the course of proceedings, the Attorney General apprised the court that the census is a sensitive issue adding that for credibility of the census army's participation in the process was necessary.
The Chief Justice raised question that if someone filed petition in the Election Commission of Pakistan seeking not to carry out elections without census, then what will be the government's point of view.
If this situation prevails and census is not conducted, it will not be possible to hold election of 2018, the CJP observed.
Later, hearing of the case was adjourned till last week of September.
