Namira Salim, Pakistan’s first female astronaut embarks on her space journey

Namira Salim, Pakistan's pioneering female astronaut, has arrived in the United States to embark on her space journey aboard the Virgin Galactic commercial space liner. This historic celestial expedition is scheduled to commence on October 5, and Ms. Salim made her way to Dallas, Texas from Karachi.

Expressing her gratitude, she stated, "I am deeply thankful for the support of my country. I will proudly carry Pakistan's flag into space."

Namira Salim, based in Dubai, holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani astronaut to raise the Pakistani flag at both the North Pole in 2007 and the South Pole in 2008.

Virgin Galactic recently achieved its first commercial spaceflight in June, although it carried experts from Italy instead of regular tourists. In August and September, the company successfully launched its first space tourism flights.

Now, Ms. Salim is set to be a part of this mission, occupying a seat in the cabin of the company's VSS Unity spacecraft. She is one of the 100 individuals who purchased tickets for space tourism from this American company, having acquired her ticket back in 2006, and now, she is finally realizing her dream of visiting space.
