*KARACHI - In a surprise move, three special public prosecutors of the National Accountability Burea’s (NAB) Sindh tendered their resignations on Monday. *
The three prosecutors — Munsif Jan, Yasir Mughal, and Naseem Malik — were representing the anti-graft body in high-profile corruption cases including the investigations into alleged corruption by former minister Sharjeel Memon, the Port Qasim and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) corruption probe.
The replacements of the three officers, who were investigating financial irregularities in several major institutions, are yet to be hired.
In July, NAB had authorised three separate inquiries against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Agha Siraj Durrani. One inquiry pertained to allegations of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income, while another pertains to illegal appointments on 352 government posts.
