Hindu community in Pakistan celebrates Nava Ratri rituals

HYDERABAD: (APP) Like other parts of the world the Hindu community is celebrating their religious festival, 'Nava Ratri' on Saturday with religious fervor here at Hyderabad.

The Hindu community began Navratri celebrations on Saturday evening after breaking their first of the ninth 24-hour fast.
Talking to APP here on Saturday "Jeevat Raj Maharaj" informed that word Navaratri means ‘nine nights' in Sanskrit, Nava meaning nine and Ratri meaning night. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshipped. The tenth day is commonly referred to as 'Dussehra' Jeevat Maharaj, added.

He said that there is a large population of Hindus in Sindh where they are free to follow their religion and celebrate their religious rituals.
Jeevat Raj Maharaj informed that the bhajans playing in the Grupat Mandir, Shiv Mandir And Kali Mata Mandir neighborhood as people were busy in Pooja (worship) inside their homes.

Meanwhile, the ground behind the temples was decorated but wore a vacant look. A man selling rose and jasmine garlands was happy to report that he was going to sell all his garlands that evening.
Members of the Hindu community of Hyderabad lit up oil lamps outside temples, their homes and shops after which "Pooja" ceremonies were held.

The children said they weren't fasting but their parents helping in decorating the temples.
Bhajans were sung and prayed also made for the integrity, security and prosperity of country and the Hindu community.
