Crops import from India: Sindh Chamber demands ban

HYDERABAD (APP): The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture Friday demanded ban on the crops which were being imported from India.
Addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club here, the SCA's General Secretary Nabi Bux Sathio demanded support for the local farmers so that they could increase the crop production.

"The Indian government gives Rs 2,800 billion subsidy to its farmers but in Sindh province, the farmers don't even get the crop prices which are fixed by the provincial government," he complained.
He said the import of crops from India was affecting the farmers because the cost of production was higher in Pakistan due to disproportionately lower subsidies.
The office bearers of the SCA Mir Abdul Karim Talpur, Muhammad Khan Sarejo and Agha Khadim Hussain Shah present on the occassion.

The farmers urged the federal government to reviews its import policy and ask the provincial government to support the farmers.
