The spokesperson for the Afghan government, Zabihullah Mujahid, has issued a statement in Pakistan and other countries regarding Afghan refugees, stating that for the past 45 years, Afghans have faced numerous challenges and displacement in various countries due to conflict and war in Afghanistan. Now, as Afghan refugees confront various issues and forced resettlement in different countries, the following points are important and necessary:
The statement expresses gratitude to all the countries that have hosted Afghan refugees over the last four decades and urges that Afghans should not be forcefully repatriated but instead, good neighborly relations, Islamic brotherhood, and humanitarian compassion should be demonstrated.
The Afghan government emphasizes in the statement that Afghan nationals residing in other countries have not posed any security threats to the host countries, and neighboring countries should treat Afghan migrants with respect while upholding the principles of Islamic brotherhood.
The statement also underscores that when Afghan nationals return to their country due to forced repatriation from other countries, their personal belongings, assets, and funds are their rightful property, and imposing unfair conditions on them is unjust.
The statement acknowledges that recent difficulties and the positions of some countries have compelled some Afghan nationals to seek refuge in other countries.
It encourages all Afghans, especially investors and traders, to engage with the High Commission for addressing refugee issues and seek assistance in their relocation, housing, shelter, healthcare, and other related areas.
