Nawaz Sharif to leave for Islamabad today

LONDON: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will today (Wednesday) leave for Islamabad to appear before the accountability court (AC) on November 3 (Friday).

The decision of his return was taken during a high-level meeting in London which was attended by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Another meeting was held in London hours before his return to Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

Earlier on Monday, the former prime minister said that he would not have been disqualified on an Iqama if there was a fair trial. There was no ‘minus-Nawaz’ formula, he said.

Sharif further rejected the reports of division inside the party.
