China says trade talks with US achieve positive progress

China says trade talks with the United States to date have achieved much positive progress.

A statement issued by China’s foreign ministry quoted State Councilor Wang Yi as saying during a meeting with former U.S. lawmakers that he hopes the two countries can reach a mutually beneficial agreement on trade.

Mnuchin was speaking in Beijing, where he and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will hold talks this week, before Chinese vice Premier Liu He goes to Washington next week for another round of talks.
