Power shortfall in country increases as Chashma Nuclear power plant affected

ISLAMABAD – The power shortfall in the country has reached 1200 megawatt following tripping of high transmission lines of the state-owned National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC).

A spokesman of the Power Division said that the power plants affected by the tripping include plants one to four of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant.

He said that the work was underway to restore the power plants.

“Chashma’s plants one and two could be operational by evening today whereas the other two will take time,” the spokesman said.

Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, State Minister, Secretary Power Division and PEPCO officials were monitoring the situation.
