Pakistan Customs makes a new historic record

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Customs has surpassed its target by collecting 444 billion rupees in first eight months of the current financial year.
Target for collection of customs duty for first eight months was 436 billion rupees which is 21 percent higher than the target for the same period of the previous financial year.
In addition, an amount of 518 billion rupees Sales tax has been collected at import stage against collection of 521 billion rupees in the previous financial year.
The decline in collection of Sales Tax is mainly due to decrease in quantity and value of petroleum products.
Moreover, Customs Wing has collected 152 billion rupees withholding tax which is 6 percent higher than previous year collection.
