Sindh CM approves a plan of E-Stamp Duty Project

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved a plan of E-Stamp Duty Project, which will be started from next financial year.

The CM Sindh endorsed the plan while presiding over a meeting of Sindh Board of Revenue (BoR) at the Chief Minister House here on Friday, said a statement.

The meeting was attended by Minister Revenue Makhdoom Mahboobzaman, Senior Member BoR Shams Soomro, Secretary Finance Najam Shah and other officers concerned.

The Chief Minister was told that their annual collection came to Rs 10 billion. On that the Chief Minister said that there were pilferages in Stamp Duty because it was being done manually.

He directed Sindh Minister for Revenue Makhdoom Mahboob to start E-stamp Duty and their collection would go double.

Makhdoom Mahboob told the Chief Minister that NADRA was their consultant in starting e-Stamp Duty.

The Chief Minister said that let the NADRA develop a software for the BoR. Meanwhile, the e-stamp duty system introduced by the Punjab government may be replicated.

The Chief Minister directed SRB Chairman to meet the Senior Member Board of Revenue and discuss and decide ways and means of increasing revenue collection particularly the agriculture tax.
