Euro Football Championship 2016 in France under terrorism threat : US
WASHINGTON: US warned for a possible attack by terrorists in Europe during the Euro Football Championship 2016 that will be held in France.
US State Department warned its citizens to avoid travelling to Europe during summer championship.
“We are alerting US citizens to the risk of potential terrorist attacks throughout Europe, targeting major events, tourist sites, restaurants, commercial centers and transportation,” the US State Department said.
US officials claimed that security concerns in Europe have been raised since Paris attacks last year that left 130 people dead and later terrorist targeted Brussels airport and metro station that killed at least 32 and left hundreds wounded in March.
US officials also claimed that Catholic Church’s World Youth Day event could be a soft target for terrorists that would be held in Poland from July 26 to July 31 and an expected number of 2.5 million visitors will participate in it.
