Punjab Police performance report 2016 released

The Punjab police performance remained better in 2016 as compared to the year 2015 with regard to maintenance of law and order in the province.
According to a spokesman for the Punjab police, looted stolen items worth around thirteen million rupees were recovered from three thousand busted dacoit gangs, nine thousand dacoits, street criminals and thieves.
He said that ransom money of more than sixty million rupees was recovered from kidnappers and Punjab police seized illegal arms and drugs of millions of rupees.
He said that only thirty-three cases of kidnapping for ransom were reported in 2016 as compared to eighty-one in 2015.
He said that the number of murder during dacoity cases decreased by twenty-one percent, in 2015, one hundred and seventy-six such cases were reported whereas in 2016 the cases reported were one hundred and thirty-nine.
The spokesman said that the number of registered cases of the crimes based on religious grounds was one hundred and ninety-seven in 2015 and one hundred and forty-four in 2016, which shows a decrease of twenty-seven percent.
He said due to prompt action of Punjab police more than ninety-five percent of the missing children reached their homes.
