India fueling submarine race; raises security concerns in region by launching third Scorpene class submarine

Fueling a Submarine Arms Race in the region, India has launched the third of its six Scorpene-class submarines in Mumbai.
Indian Navy officials said the submarine named "INS Karanj" will undergo a year-long tests before it is commissioned.
The Navy officials said the Scorpene submarines can undertake multifarious types of missions, including anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying and area surveillance.
