Scotland formally request UK to hold 2nd independence referendum

Scotland has written a letter to British Prime Minister seeking a second referendum on independence ahead of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union.

In a letter to British Prime Minister, Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon said that the people of Scotland must have the right to choose their own future as the circumstances have changed since the first independence referendum in 2014.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Theresa May has said the UK government would respond in due course but ruled out discussions on a second secession vote.
