Pak-US Joint Energy Commission vows to further enhance bilateral cooperation

WASHINGTON: Pak-US Joint Energy Commission vows to further enhance bilateral cooperation including CASA-1000 and TAPI gas pipeline projects.

 

Pakistan’s Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met with US Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs Amos Hochstein and discussed to enhance bilateral cooperation in energy sector.

 

The leaders also discussed priorities for the Clean Energy Partnership through 2020 capable of generating at least 3,000 megawatts of electricity.

 

The leaders also agreed to increase investment and cooperation   in energy sector, transmission infrastructure, technical assistance and growth of advanced technology.

 

The meeting was an outcome of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with US President on clean energy collaboration in October 2015.

 

Senior US Officials from various departments joined the meeting and appreciated Pakistan's economic reform agenda.
