KARACHI: (APP) A former provincial education minister, Dr. Hamida Khuhro, passed away here at a hospital on Sunday at the age of 81.
Her `Namaz-i-Janaza' was offered at a mosque in Clifton after Asr prayers and she was later laid to rest at a local graveyard.
Hamida Khuhro was an accomplished author and historian and twice served as education minister of Sindh. She obtained Ph.D. from the University of London in South Asian History.
The Sindh Governor, Muhammad Zubair, has expressed deep sorrow and grief at the demise of Dr. Hamida Khuhro.
In a condolence message on Sunday, he said, "In her death we have lost a distinguished teacher, writer and an educationalist".
The Governor said that Dr. Hamida Khuhro contributed a lot towards the promotion of education in the province and that her services would be long remembered.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
