Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today formally commissioned the Coast Guardoffshore state of the art patrol vessel ‘Varaha’ at the Chennai Port Trust.After unveiling a plaque commemorating the commissioning ceremony, Mr Singhsaid the state-of-the-art ship was going to be a force multiplier forIndian Coast Guard, pointing it has capabilities to operate twin-engineAdvance Light Helicopters developed indigenously by Hindustan Aeronauticsor HAL, Press Trust of India has reported.
Mr Singh, who arrived in Chennai on Tuesday on a two-day visit,participated in the Investiture Ceremony of Coast Guard.
“it is indeed reassuring to witness the growing strength of Indian CoastGuard, the ‘Sentinals of our seas’ and capabilities of Larsen and ToubroShipbuilding Ltd one of the strong supporting pillars for production andmaintenance of surface assets of our maritime forces,” he said.
