PM Imran Khan holds meeting with Egyptian President Fateh Al Sisi

NEW YORK – Prime Minister Imran Khan had a bilateral meeting with thePresident of Egypt Abdul Fattah Al Sisi on the sidelines of the 74thsession of the UN General Assembly.

Recalling their meeting earlier this year on the sidelines of the OICSummit in Makkah, both leaders reaffirmed their common desire to furtherstrengthen bilateral cooperation across the range of areas.

It was also agreed to sustain the momentum through regular high levelexchanges between the two countries. Prime Minister Imran Khan apprisedPresident Sisi of the aftermath of India’s unilateral and illegal actionsof 5 August that posed grave risk to regional peace and security.

Referring to ongoing human rights abuses in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, thePrime Minister emphasized the urgent need for lifting curfew and otherrestrictions placed on the Kashmiri population for over 50 days.

Imran Khan further stressed the need for the international community toplay its role in facilitating a just and durable solution of the Jammu andKashmir dispute.

Both leaders also exchanged views on the regional situation.

In this context, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of dialogueand diplomacy in the interest of peace and security.
