NEW DELHI – Indian players participating in the upcoming T10 league haveannounced to play alongside Pakistani players as they did not want to missthe bounty, rejecting the nationalism call from different circles andIndian media.
Indian Team and Players otherwise don’t play against Pakistan let aloneplaying alongside Pakistan players.
In November, Indian players are set to participate in a T-10 League to beheld in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The tournament is set to begin onNovember 14. The catch here is that Indians will be joined by playersfromPakistan.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi is slated to turn out for Qalandars,a new team this season, as its icon player. Among others, former Pakistanskipper Shoaib Malik has made himself available for the draft scheduled forlater this month.
Afridi will be seen walking alongside Indian players like Zaheer Khan, DNAhas reported.
The T-10 league is in its third year. Apart from India and Pakistan,players from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, England and Australiaamong others will also be participating. Earlier, the league was held inDubai, but now Abu Dhabi has secured a five-year contract for the host.
Questioned about their presence in the tournament, former India pacerZaheer countered by telling this reporter to consider being a sportsmanfirst, before being an Indian.
In an exclusive conversation with Zee News, Zaheer said that whenever thereare matches between India and Pakistan, there is a different passion.
“I don’t think there should be any such problem while playing this League.India and Pakistan are not playing in this League. Just individualcricketers are going to come to show their skills. I look at this league,its competition from this point of view and I think everybody should lookat it like that,” Zaheer said.
When Zee News spoke to the founder of the League, Shazi Ul Mulk, he told usthat talks are currently going on with the recently-retired Yuvraj Singh,Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan.
