ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan briefed Turkish President RecepTayyip Erdogan on the latest situation since India’s illegal and unilateralactions of 5th August to alter the disputed status of Indian Occupied Jammuand Kashmir.
He briefed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of 74th sessionof the UN General Assembly in New York.
Imran Khan said India’s efforts to change Occupied Kashmir’s demographicstructure contravened numerous UN Security Council’s resolutions,international law and India’s own prior commitments.
He emphasized that the dire human rights and humanitarian situation inOccupied Kashmir posed grave risks for peace and security in the region.
In this context, he called for the immediate lifting of curfew and otherrestrictions in the Held Kashmir, end to gross violations of human rights,and allowing Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination asenshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Recalling his visit to Turkey in January this year, Imran Khan expressedsatisfaction that Pakistan-Turkey bilateral relations have transformed intoa mutually beneficial strategic partnership. He Khan thanked PresidentErdogan for Turkey’s consistent support to Pakistan on issues of corenational interest, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support to Turkey onissues of its national interest.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of further strengthening thebilateral economic partnership and expressed hope that the recentlyfinalized Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) would play an instrumentalrole in this regard.
Imran Khan added that he looks forward to President Erdogan’s visit toPakistan for the next round of Pakistan-Turkey High Level StrategicCooperation Council (HLSSC).
During the meeting the leaders recalled the historic fraternal ties betweenthe two nations and reiterated their strong resolve to continue standing byeach other in the face of all challenges.
