ISLAMABAD – United States President Donald Trump reacts over Indian PM Modispeech against Pakistan.
Trump said there was a very aggressive statement in yesterday’s address ofIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Appreciating the political wisdom andacumen of Imran Khan, he said he trusts Pakistan and Prime Minister ImranKhan.
US President reaffirmed the resolve to build a broad-based andmutually-beneficial partnership.
The understanding came at a meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan andUS President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly inNew York.
Prime Minister Khan appreciated President Trump’s continued offers ofassistance in mediating the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Describing India’s draconian lockdown in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as adire humanitarian crisis, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance ofimmediate lifting of the curfew and other restrictions and resolving theKashmir dispute for durable peace and stability in South Asia.
The two leaders also reviewed the evolving regional peace and securityscenario.
They reiterated their shared interest in a peaceful and stableAfghanistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan hoped for an early resumption of the Afghan peaceand reconciliation process while underlining that there was no militarysolution to the Afghan conflict.
Building on the Prime Minister’s successful visit to Washington in July2019, the two leaders expressed the resolve to expedite progress in themutually prioritized areas of trade, investment and energy cooperation.
Later, addressing a news conference along with Prime Minister Imran Khan inNew York, US President Donald Trump once again offered to mediate on theissue of Kashmir with the consent of both Pakistan and India leaders.
He expressed hope that leadership of India and Pakistan can work togetherto sort out this issue.
