PTI government unveils new Shipping policy in Pakistan, Major incentives announced

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi has saidshipping companies, which register their ships in Pakistan by 2030 will beexempted from tax.

He was addressing a joint news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday withPrime Minister’s Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.

The minister said economic reforms are the top agenda of the government andthe federal cabinet has already approved the shipping policy of Pakistan.

He said this policy will promote shipping sector in Pakistan. He saidfreight charges will also be paid in Pakistani rupee under the new shippingpolicy. He said shipping sector has been declared as industry and bankswill support it.

Abdul Razak Dawood said oil & gas and shipping industry is of strategic innature and many concessions have been granted under the new shippingpolicy.
