ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court will hear former prime minister NawazSharif’s appeal against his conviction in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruptionreference on September 18.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin AkhtarKiyani will hear the former premier’s plea.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has received the Nawaz’s paperbooks from registrar office. The bureau also collected the verified copiesof the statement of former Accountability Judge Arshad Malik.
On December 24, 2018, an accountability court had sentenced Nawaz to sevenyears in prison in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference andacquitted him in the Flagship reference.
The court ordered that Nawaz be “sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for aterm of seven years along with a fine of Rs1.5 billion and US$25 million”.
