KARACHI: Another big setback for the Pakistan Srilanka bilateral series asSrilanka team may opt out of series against Pakistan at the home ground.
Latest threats received to the government over series inside Pakistan haveforced Srilanka Cricket Board to reassess the security scenario.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) would reassess the security situation inPakistan after it received a warning from its Prime Minister’s office of a”possible terrorist threat”.
The SLC’s fresh statement — issued Wednesday evening — has once againthrown the possibility of the Sri Lankan cricket team’s tour to Pakistanunder doubt.
According to its statement, the SLC sought the Sri Lankan government’sassistance to conduct a reassessment of the security situation in Pakistanahead of the national team’s planned tour for the September series.
“The decision was taken following a warning, the SLC received from thePrime Minister’s Office, sent via the Ministry of Telecommunication,Foreign Employment and Sports,” the statement said.
