ISLAMABAD – Sri Lankan Cricket Board grills senior national players overrefusal to visit Pakistan for bilateral series.
Sri Lanka Cricket has acted against the players who have refused to tourPakistan for the three-match ODI and T20I series scheduled to start fromSeptember 27.
SLC has denied No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Niroshan Dickwella for theparticipation in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, while they haveasked their senior all-rounder Thisara Parera to return to the countryleaving the league halfway.
According to SLC CEO Ashley de Silva if there are players in the selectionradar, but they opt to withdraw their name voluntarily, the board will notgrant an NOC to such players.
“It’s our policy not to give NOCs when there is a national tour, and theplayers would have known that,” de Silva said. “So Dickwella has not beengranted an NOC and will be expected to train with the national team in thenext few weeks. We have also asked Thisara to return to the country onSeptember 15, so he can also join the team in training.”
SLC’s security team visited Pakistan and presented a positive report to theconcerned authorities, however, few players have still expressed theirconcerns on security despite touring the country in the past.
