ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan while taking strict notice of risinginflation has directed the authorities concerned to take steps to bringdown the price of flour.
This was stated by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information andBroadcasting while briefing media in Islamabad this afternoon on Friday’simportant meetings chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
She said the Prime Minister also expressed anger over the increase in priceof sugar.
SAPM said the Prime Minister has directed to take strict action againstprofiteers and hoarders.
Imran Khan also sought suggestions from various ministries to bring downthe prices of essential items of daily use.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the price of flour increased in Sindh as theprovincial government did not make purchase of wheat on time. She said thePrime Minister directed to release 100,000 tons of wheat immediately forSindh.
The Special Assistant said the Prime Minister while chairing anothermeeting directed to prepare a database of properties of Evacuee TrustProperty Board in order to make best utilization of them.
She said federal and provincial governments will work together to devise astrategy regarding the Auqaf properties.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the income of Muslim shrines will be used forfacilitation of visitors.
Replying to a question, she said Ulema of all schools of thought attendedthe meeting with the Prime Minister in Islamabad yesterday.
She said the meeting had nothing to do with sit-in. She said theexploitation of people will not be tolerated in the guise of religion.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said protest is democratic and basic right of everycitizen and government supports it, but it will not allow anyone to takelaw into own hands.
