ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the sacking of SarfarazAhmed from captaincy ahead of the Australia series with Azhar Ali and BabarAzam on Friday being appointed new skippers of Pakistan’s Test and T20Isides.
Azhar Ali will lead Pakistan in Tests for the 2019-20 season while batsmanBabar Azam will guide the T20 squad till the World Cup next year inAustralia, announced PCB.
Reacting to his axing from both the squads, Sarfaraz said, “It has been anhonour to lead Pakistan at the highest level.
I want to thank all my colleagues, coaches and selectors who have helped mein this journey. My good wishes are with Azhar Ali, Babar Azam and thePakistan cricket team, and I hope they will continue to grow stronger andstronger.”
PCB, however, goofed up with the announcement by releasing a video of thePakistan squad dancing during their training session right after postingthe news of Sarfaraz’s sacking as captain.
In that clip, players like Fakhar Zaman can be seen doing the Bhangra andthus the post was soon removed from social media.
Soon after this post went viral, PCB posted an apology and wrote, “The PCBapologies for this post and accepts the timing of it was wrong. This was apre-planned post as part of the one-year to go #T20WorldCuplinkpromotionalcampaign. The timing of this post clashed with the captaincy announcementfor which the PCB offers its regrets.”
