NEW DELHI: Frustrated India to punish Turkey for $2.3 billion over Pakistansupport, Indian media hhas reported.
A $2.3-billion deal to build fleet support vessels in collaboration with aTurkish shipyard has come into question after security concerns were raisedover the firm for links with Pakistan.
Turkey’s TAIS had emerged as the lowest bidder in June this year, followinga global competition, for a contract to manufacture five of the45,000-tonne fleet support vessels (FSV) at the Vizag-based HindustanShipyard Limitedlink (HSL), TheEconomic Times has reported.
Turkish shipyards are a major supplier of warships to the Pakistani Navyand concerns have been raised in Indialink on how access to the strategicHSL by its engineers and workers can result in serious security issues.[image:ET Prime]link

HSL is located close to the Ship Building Centre, where India’s nucleararmed submarines are built and the Eastern Naval Commandlink has itsheadquarters.
Last month, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had used the ceremony tolaunch new corvettes for the Pakistani Navy last month to once again talkabout the Kashmir issue.
