Final decision taken over visit of Pakistani born former PM of India Manmohan Singh to Pakistan

*NEW DELHI:* Final decision has been taken over visit of Pakistani bornformer PM of India Manmohan Singh for the inauguration ceremony of theKartarpur Corridor.

Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will visit Pakistan for theinauguration of the historic Kartarpur Corridor on November 9. The formerPM has accepted the invite of Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder Singh tojoin the first batch of pilgrims going to the Kartarpur Gurudwara onNovember 9, Zee News has reported.

He will also attend the main event on the Indian side at Sultanpur Lodhi.Dr Singh will be part of the first Jatha (batch) of pilgrims going toKartarpur along with Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, ChiefMinister’s media advisor Raveen Thakral said.

Earlier on Thursday, Punjab CM met PM Narendra Modi and invited him for theKartarpur Corridor opening.

He also sought, “clearance for special delegation to visit Gurdwara NankanaSahib and bring back Nagar Kirtan to mark the historic occasion,” a tweetby the Punjab CM’s media advisor said.

Both President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Modi have accepted Punjab CM’s inviteto attend 550th Prakash Parv celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November.

It is interesting to note that Dr Singh had never visited Pakistan during10 years of his prime ministership.

Dr Manmohan Singh was born in Gah, which is now in Pakistan’s PunjabProvince but after partition, his family shifted to Amritsar.
