ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi held importantmeeting with the US Congressmen delegation in Islamabad.
Talking to US Democrat Congressmen Jim Himes and Patrick Maloney inIslamabad, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan under thecollective responsibility has been playing a constructive role inestablishment of peace in the region.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized on US to resume dialogueprocess with Taliban because talks are the only way for sustainable peace.
The Foreign Minister also underlined that Pakistan gives special importanceto its bilateral relations with the United States.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and the US have worked together toovercome the regional challenges, including terrorism.
He said the meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Trumpin New York proved fruitful.
On Kashmir dispute, the foreign minister said the illegal and unilateralsteps taken by India on 5th of August are threatening the regional peace.
Qureshi said curfew is imposed in Occupied Kashmir for the last fifty eightdays and Indian security forces are perpetrating grave human rightsviolations in the held territory.
He urged the US side to play role in saving the eight million innocentKashmiris from Indian oppression.
They also discussed Pak-US relations, situation in Occupied Jammu andKashmir and matters of mutual interest.
