Supreme Court of Pakistan gives orders on Pakistan Steel Mills land case

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Monday barred the federal government fromselling the land of country’s largest industrial unit, Pakistan Steel Mills.

According to details, a two-member bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmedheard the case regarding the payments of provident fund to the millemployees.

While stopping the federal government from selling the land of PakistanSteel Mill (PSM), The court remarked that the land of Pakistan Steel Millis owned by the people and cannot be sold.

The court dismissed the government’s petition against the order to freezethe accounts of Ministry of Industry and Production.

The federal government’s application was dismissed on the basis ofwithdrawal.

The government lawyer took the stance that the Sindh High Court hadwithdrawn its order, after withdrawing the order, the appeal becameineffective.

Justice Gulzar Ahmad expressed his resentment over the performance of PSMand remarked why not the court take notice of the issue of steel mill asthe production of Pakistan steel mill is zero.

The government lawyer said that there was no funds to pay the providentfund, the government is selling the land to pay the salaries of theemployees.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that Pakistan Steel Mill was once a hugecompany, hundreds of steel mills were operated by Pakistan Steel Mill,Steel Mills. The mill has been destroyed to just to fill their own pockets.
