ISLAMABAD – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information andBroadcasting, Dr. Firdous Aashiq Awan has sought Japanese assistance formodernizing and upgrading technological equipment installed at RadioPakistan and Pakistan Television.
She was talking to Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Kuninori Matsuda, whocalled on her in Islamabad.
Dr Firdous Awan recalled that Japan had helped Pakistan to establishTelevision service by providing technical assistance and equipment to thestate broadcaster in late 50s which ultimately blossomed into PakistanTelevision Network by mid 1960s.
She said that PTI government under the visionary leadership of PrimeMinister Imran Khan has embarked on a well-conceived programme of bringingreforms in the key sectors of the country and strengthening of stateinstitutions.
On the occasion, the Japanese ambassador expressed his keenness to extendcooperation regarding up-gradation of equipment installed at statebroadcasters.
The two sides also agreed to further strengthen bilateral engagements indifferent sectors including economy, media, film production and investment.
