ISLAMABAD – Pakistan strongly responds over Indian government newpolitical maps depicting Pakistani areas as Indian territories. Pakistanhas rejected the political maps issued by India, which are incompatiblewith the UN maps.
In a statement issued by foreign office, Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Faisalsaid that the political maps of India, issued by the Indian Home Ministryon 2 November 2019, displaying Jammu and Kashmir region and seeking todepict parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir within theterritorial jurisdiction of India, are incorrect, legally untenable, voidand in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security CouncilResolutions.
He added that Pakistan rejects these political maps, which are incompatiblewith the United Nations’ maps.
“We reiterate that no step by India can change the “disputed”status ofJammu and Kashmir recognized by the United Nations. Such measures by theGovernment of India cannot prejudice the inalienable right toself-determination of the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” thestatement continued.
The spokesperson added that Pakistan would continue supporting thelegitimate struggle of the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir forexercising their right to self-determination in accordance with therelevant UN Security Council Resolutions.
