ISLAMABAD – Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum (WKAF) hascondemned the Indian government’s continued brutal repression in occupiedKashmir and refusal to reverse its unilateral decision to abrogate specialstatus of the territory.

The forum in a statement issued in Washington, rejected the capricious andundemocratic decision of the Indian government to divide occupied Kashmirinto two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The statement said India’s decision is a flagrant violation of India’sobligations of the international law.

The WKAF said that the Indian government must immediately restore Kashmir’sspecial status, restore political and administrative unity of the threeregions of the territory and end all draconian laws under which civilliberties have been abolished and create a conducive atmosphere to enablethe Kashmiri people to exercise their internationally-recognized right toself-determination.
