WhatsApp launched new interesting feature for users

ISLAMABAD – In February this year, Facebook-owned WhatsApp added extraprivacy features for iOS users that enabled users to unlock the app viafingerprint ID or Facial recognition.

Android users all over the world were waiting for the update, and finally,WhatsApp has sent out the feature to compatible Android devices. Theupdate, however, does not appear to be available in all regions but that isjust a matter of time.

The extra layer of security can be toggled via the app’s security settings. The users also get to choose how long the app will remain unlocked afterauthentication. The new settings also come with options to keep thecontents of your messages from popping up in the notifications panel.

This feature for Android was previously reported by *WABetaInfo *in August. All Android smartphones with a fingerprint sensor are compatible with thefeature. Unfortunately, unlike iOS devices, Android smartphones are not yetcompatible with facial unlocking, since most phones use 2d face unlockusing the front camera, which is less secure.
