LAHORE – Punjab government has challenged the Sahiwal encounter verdict ofATC in Lahore High Court (LHC).
According to details, on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan Punjabgovernment has submitted an appeal against the verdict handed down by aspecial anti-terrorism court (ATC) acquitting all suspects in the Sahiwalencounter case.
In the appeal, it has been objected that court has ignored facts whilepronouncing the verdict.
The appeal has requested that legal proceedings be taken against witnesseswho defied their statements, whereas, criminal proceedings should be heldagainst those who conducted faulty investigation.
The appeal also calls for the dismissal of ATC’s verdict in Sahiwalincident.
An anti-terrorism court had earlier acquitted all the accused in Sahiwalencounter incident by giving them benefit of doubt.
In January, Muhammad Khalil, his wife and their three children weretravelling in a car, with their neighbour Zeeshan behind the steeringwheel, when Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel stopped thevehicle and opened fire on the passengers suspecting them to be terrorists.
