Is Karachi coast safe from the severe cyclonic storm Kyaar in the Arabian Sea?

KARACHI – The cyclonic storm namely ‘Kyarr’ intensified into a severecyclonic storm over the east-central Arabian Sea.

The Cyclone Kyarr deepened into a category 4-type tropical cyclone with anestimated wind speed of 220-230 kmphr, with intense convective rain clouds.

According to Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, none of Pakistan coastalarea is under any threat from this system; however, rain is expected inSindh’s Karachi, and coastal areas of Pakistan from October 28 to 30.

Presently, the cyclonic storm is located 950 km away from Karachi insouth-eastern side of Arabian Sea. Fishermen are advised to remain alertand avoid going into deep sea.

Like most cyclones that emerge in the Arabian Sea, it is likely movetowards the Oman coast.

However, Met department has predicted sea tide to be very high over theeast-central Arabian Sea.
