Human Rights Watch gives a strong snub to Indian government over the controversial amendment Act 2019

ISLAMABAD – Human Rights Watch gives a strong snub to Indian governmentover the controversial amendment Act 2019.

Human Rights Watch has said that Indian authorities should cease usingunnecessary lethal force against demonstrators protesting a law thatdiscriminates against Muslims.

In a statement, South Asia Director at Human Rights Meenakshi Ganguly saidmany people have been killed and several injured during protest against theCitizenship Amendment Bill.

She said the Indian government should address the legitimate concerns overthe citizenship law and national register of citizens that will be used totarget marginalized groups.
