KABUL – The United Nations has welcomed the announcement regarding thepreliminary results of the presidential elections in Afghanistan.
In a statement issued in Kabul today, the UN Assistance Mission inAfghanistan said that Afghans braved security threats to cast their votesfor a better future, and now, authorities and candidates must take theelections to its final stage.
Earlier, the head of Afghan Independent Election Commission, Hawa AlamNuristani told reporters in Kabul today that Ashraf Ghani secured more thanfifty percent votes while Abdullah Abdullah obtained over thirty-nine percent votes.
