SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, people held forceful demonstrations inNowhatta, Srinagar and other areas of the territory, today against Indianongoing lockdown in the territory.
The occupation authorities allowed people to offer Juma prayers, today athistoric Jamia Masjid located in Nowhatta area of Srinagar after keepingmosque locked for 19 consecutive weeks since 5th August.
However, after Juma congregational prayers, youth took to the streets andraised high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
People also held anti-India protests in Sopore, Pulwama, Bandipora andother areas. Indian police and troops used brute force against theprotesters at different places.
The occupation authorities kept Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz UmarFarooq, under house arrest and did not allow him to deliver Juma sermon atJamia Masjid.
Meanwhile, the situation in territory remained grim as the militarylockdown continued on 138th day, today amid chilly weather.
