Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad gift for Pakistani PM Imran Khan received in Pakistan

*ISLAMABAD – **Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad gift for Pakistani PM ImranKhan received in Pakistan.*

*The Malaysian High Commission handed over the Proton X70 gifted byMalaysia’s Prime Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to Prime Imran Khan on Monday atIslamabad.*

The gift handover ceremony took place at the Malaysian High Commission inIslamabad, the car key was handed by Malaysian High Commissioner Ikram BinMohammed Ibrahim to Adviser to PM for Commerce, Textile, Industry &Production and Investment Abdul Razaq Dawood.

The Malaysian High Commissioner expressed commitment to boost trade in bothcountries, saying that the Proton car is a gift from one brother to another.

Meanwhile, advisor Abdul Razzaq Dawood said that Pakistan supportsMalaysia’s global role and was optimistic to witness increase trade volumebetween the two countries.

Back in March, a series of business records were signed between Malaysia’sProton Motors and Pakistan’s Al-Haj, under which the company will beginproducing Proton cars in Pakistan from June.

The Proton joint venture, first agreed last year, was the centrepiece of aseries of agreements signed during a visit of Malaysian Prime MinisterMahathir Mohamad. Pakistani officials said the deals would total around$800-900 million.

The Proton plant, near the southern port city of Karachi, was the latest ina series of assembly deals set up in Pakistan by international auto makersincluding Volkswagen AG and Hyundai Motors.
