PEAHAWAR – KP government flagship BRT Peshawar project faces yet anothersetback. The Peshawar High Court has ordered the Federal InvestigationAgency (FIA) to probe into under construction Rapid Bus Transit system(BRT), while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced to cooperate inthe inquiry.
According to details, the Peshawar High Court has directed FIA to probeinto BRT.
In this regard, the provincial government has decided to fully cooperatewith the FIA in the inquiry.
KP government spokesperson Ajmal Wazir said that the government willcooperate with the FIA for the transparency of the BRT project.
He said that the provincial government was not given the opportunity topresent its stance in the court. “It is our constitutional and legal rightto answer questions raised in judicial decisions”, he added.
On December 6, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to approach theSupreme Court to stop FIA’s ongoing probe into BRT project.
Previously, the Peshawar High Court directed the Federal InvestigationAgency (FIA) to probe into BRT project within 45 days.
The court in its judgment instructed the FIA to submit its findings within45 days, and to also take action against officers involved.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already acquired a stay order over NAB’sinvestigative report on BRT.
