ISLAMABAD – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a grantof 459.5 million rupees to cope desert locust threat in Pakistan.
The committee accorded this approval during its meeting held in Islamabadon Thursday under chair of Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance Dr AbdulHafeez Shaikh.
The ECC was informed that nine districts of the country are affected by theLocust and the Department of Plant Protection has been given theresponsibility of dealing with the threat. So far 170,000 hectares havebeen cleared and the Ministry has been provided updates on daily basis.
The ECC approved allocation of three hundred million rupees for raising ofa Special Wing of Pakistan Rangers for Protection of Kartarpur Corridor.
It also approved the “Enactment of Pakistan Single Window Bill, 2019” tofacilitate the businesses in Pakistan.
Through this Single window, all parties involved in trade and transport canlodge standardized information and documents with a single-entry point tofulfill all import, export and transit related regulatory requirements.
The ECC also allowed the continuation of funding facility by Gas HoldingPrivate Limited for Inter-state Gas Systems (Private) Limited for anothertwo years.
It approved extension and Rehabilitation of gas network in oil and gasproducing districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
