Major organised cyberattack against the country’s e-government infrastructure foiled

TEHRAN – Iran says it has recently foiled a major “organized” cyber attackagainst the country’s e-government infrastructure.

Speaking on the sidelines of a weekly cabinet session on Wednesday,Information Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi described the cyberattack as “very big.”

He added that the attack targeting the country’s “e-governmentinfrastructure” was identified and thwarted by the country’s “securityshield.”

The Iranian minister said he could not give any further details for thetime being, adding that work was underway to extract different dimensionsof the attack.

Back in June, Jahromi reported an unsuccessful American cyber attackagainst the country’s missile control system.

“The media ask whether the alleged cyber attacks against Iran did takeplace,” Jahromi said in a tweet on June 24.
