Pakistan avoids Financial Action Task Force ( FATF ) blacklist

ISLAMABAD – A five-member delegation of Pakistanlink will attend an important meeting ofthe Financial Action Task Forcelink (FATFlink) today.

According to the details, the Pakistanilink team would presenta report before the international body regarding implementation on its 40recommendation against moneylink laundering andterror-financing in the country.

FATF—the international body in its previous meeting appreciated Pakistanlink for carrying outmeasures to curb moneylink launderingand terror financing. “Pakistan has shown progresslink in 36 out of the40 recommendations,”.The body, according to the sources, completed an important point of keepingthe data of financial institutions confidential and also show progresslink on ninerecommendations. The report issued by the international body alsoappreciated Pakistan’s effort, observing that crackdown against benamiasset holders was also a good step. The report mentioned alllink measures taken by thegovernment link against money link launderingand terror financing.

Islamabad is hopeful that with the support of friendly countries it willmanage it to avoid being blacklisted.
