ISLAMABAD – Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Syed Shabbar Zaidi saidthat every person owning a car above 1000 cc and a house measuring 500square yards or above is required to file tax returns.
“FBR reiterates that every person owning a car above 1000 cc and a housemeasuring 500 sq. yards or above is mandatorily required to file return ofincome irrespective of having any taxable income during the year,” hetweeted.
He further directed all the FBR formations to ensure that all industrialand commercial consumers of Electricity and Gas distribution companies areregistered under and file return of income, if required. Such consumers,who have not yet filed return of income to avail extension in time.
Earlier, on Nov 29, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had extended thedeadline for filing of income tax returns for the tax year 2019 to Dec 16.

It is to be noted that FBR has received 1.59 million income tax returns,which is higher compared to the same period last year, but the reportsstill suggest that another million people who filed returns last year havestill to file this year.
As a result, the FBR announced an extension in the return filing deadlineto Dec 15.
