ISLAMABAD – On Tuesday, Fawad Chaudhry, Minister for Science andTechnology, once again raised red flags regarding India’s reckless spacemissions.
The Minister urged international organizations to take notice of the debrisin the space caused by India’s space missions.
Fawad took to twitter to warn the world about the consequences of debrisIndian space missions are generating.
NASA Locates Vikram’s Debris on Moon
Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), a NASA’s robotic spacecraft orbitingMoon, has located the debris of India’s Vikram lunar spacecraft.
LRO has released images of Vikram’s impact that shows debris stretchingover several kilometers with parts scattered on more than 2 dozen locations.
In September, the Chandrayaan2 Vikram lunar spacecraft crashed momentsbefore landing on the Moon’s surface.
NASA Criticizes India on its Anti-Satellite Test
In March, India conducted an anti-satellite test by shooting down one ofits satellites through a rocket.
While India was celebrating its anti-satellite test, NASA’s administrator,Jim Bridenstine, termed the entire activity as a “terrible, terrible thing.link”
According to NASA officials, the debris of the destroyed satellite poses ahuge danger to the International Space Station and its six-member crew.
Bridenstine said that NASA located more than 400 pieces of orbital debrisgenerated after the Indian anti-satellite test. Around 60 pieces were 10 cmlong capable of wrecking significant damage to the International SpaceStation.
